The Meko Bono Festival is a visionary initiative of Osagyefo Oseadeayo Agyemang Badu II, Omanhene of the Dormaa Traditional Council and President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs.

It celebrates the history, culture, and heritage of the ancient Bono Tribe while serving as a platform to mobilize resources for development across the Bono and Bono East Regions.
This year’s grand durbar, chaired by His Royal Majesty Ohenpon Dr. Yeboah Asiamah, Omanhene of Atebubu, brought together a constellation of powerful chiefs and queens.
The event featured a vibrant display of royal regalia, traditional performances, and cultural pride. A fundraising segment led by the Dormaa Manhene generated significant contributions in cash and kind to support developmental projects in the two regions.
In his address, Hon. Akwaboa conveyed the warm regards of the President of the Republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, to the chiefs and people.
He presented a donation on behalf of the Presidency in support of the festival’s objectives. The President, who was unable to attend due to mourning the loss of two cabinet ministers and six other key public officials, assured the people of Bono and Bono East that they will be principal beneficiaries of his national reset agenda.
Planned developments include infrastructure and road projects, improvements in health and education, agricultural growth, and expanded employment opportunities.
The Bono Regional Minister expressed optimism that the unity of purpose demonstrated through the Meko Bono Festival would ensure it remains a beacon of cultural pride and a catalyst for development in the Bono and Bono East Regions.
