The Akans (Bonos) constitute 73.3% of the population, with Mole – Dagbani been the second populated ethnic group with 14.6% and the remaining ethnic groups as follows Mande 5.2%, Grusi 2.2%, Ewe 1.4%, Gruma 1.0%, Ga-Dangme 0.7%, Guan 0.3% and other ethnic groups constituting 1.2% of the population.
