PARLIAMENTARY JUDICIARY COMMITTEE ENGAGES BONO RCC ON STRENGTHENING JUDICIAL INFRASTRUCTURE
The Parliament Select Committee on Judiciary undertook a working visit to the Bono Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) on 14th May 2026, as part of efforts to assess and support the delivery of judicial services in the region. The delegation was accompanied by officials from the Judicial Service of Ghana.
The committee members were led by their chairman, Hon. Frempong Joseph, together with the ranking member, Hon. Ziendeng Bede, and deputy ranking member, Hon. Umar Alhassan.
The engagement provided a platform for discussions on key infrastructural and operational challenges affecting the justice delivery system in the Bono Region. Representing the Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, the Regional Coordinating Director outlined several priority areas requiring attention to improve judicial efficiency.

Among the issues raised were the need for the expansion of court infrastructure, the establishment of additional courtrooms, and the appointment of more judges to strengthen access to justice across the region. He also proposed that provisions be made within the District Assemblies Common Fund guidelines to enable District Assemblies to provide timely support to the judiciary, particularly during emergencies such as the recent fire incident at the Sunyani Magistrate and Circuit Court.
The delegation further emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between central government institutions and local authorities to ensure the smooth functioning of the justice system at the regional level.
In response, members of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Judiciary assured the RCC of their commitment to advocating for improvements in judicial infrastructure and service delivery. They indicated their readiness to work within their mandate to help address the challenges identified and enhance the overall administration of justice in the region.
