BONO REGIONAL MINISTER HIGHLIGHTS DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS DURING TAIN DISTRICT ACCOUNTABILITY TOUR

The Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, has reiterated the government’s commitment to accelerating development across the Bono Region while encouraging residents to continue supporting national efforts aimed at improving livelihoods and expanding access to essential public services.

The Minister made the remarks on 14th July 2026 during a two-day working visit to the Tain District under the district’s Accounting to the People initiative. The tour provided an opportunity to inspect ongoing projects, commission newly completed facilities, and engage with local authorities and community members on the progress of government interventions.

A key stop on the tour was the Debibi Senior High Technical School, a major educational infrastructure project being financed by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund). Once completed, the institution will feature boys’ and girls’ dormitories, classroom blocks, an administration block, a library, ICT centre, science laboratory, technical workshop, infirmary, staff accommodation, a headmaster’s bungalow, and a 2,500-seat dining hall with a kitchen.

Hon. Addae Akwaboa described the project as one of the most significant educational investments currently underway in the Bono Region. He noted that the school is expected to strengthen both academic and technical education by equipping students with practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship. He expressed optimism that construction would be completed by the end of 2027 and appealed to the chiefs and residents of Debibi to support the successful execution of the project.

As part of the tour, the Regional Minister joined the Tain District Chief Executive and the Member of Parliament for Tain, Hon. Adama Sulemana, to commission a newly completed six-unit classroom block with furniture at Drobo Bepoayase. He commended the district leadership for prioritising investments in education, stressing that quality educational infrastructure remains essential to developing the country’s future workforce.

He also encouraged parents and guardians to place greater emphasis on their children’s education while assuring residents that government remains focused on completing key road projects, including the Wenchi–Sampa and Odumase–Badu roads, to improve transportation and stimulate economic growth.

At Agyaniamu, another six-unit classroom block was officially handed over for use. The facility, which replaced an old pavilion previously used as classrooms, was completed under the current administration after construction had begun under the previous government. The Minister noted that the new structure would provide a safer and more conducive learning environment for pupils and teachers.

The tour continued to Dagadu, where a newly constructed two-unit kindergarten block with an office was commissioned to enhance access to early childhood education within the community.

Speaking during the engagements, the Member of Parliament for Tain, Hon. Adama Sulemana, said government intends to expand educational infrastructure nationwide through the annual construction of two-unit, three-unit, and six-unit classroom blocks across districts. He added that efforts would also continue to improve telecommunications services and support the completion of the Dagadu maternity block to strengthen healthcare delivery in the area.

Beyond the commissioned projects, the Regional Minister also inspected ongoing works at the Seikwa Nursing and Midwifery Training College, where new administrative and residential facilities for lecturers are under construction to support the institution’s expansion.

The Tain District tour forms part of the Bono Regional Coordinating Council’s broader stakeholder engagement programme, which enables government officials to monitor the implementation of development projects, interact with communities, and identify priority areas requiring further intervention.
