BONO REGIONAL MINISTER HOSTS BANK OF GHANA GOVERNOR TO DISCUSS FINANCIAL SECTOR AND REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, on 5th August 2026 received the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, accompanied by members of the Bank’s Board and Executive Management, during a courtesy call at the Regional Minister’s office in Sunyani.

The visit formed part of the Governor’s working tour of the Bono Region, which included engagements with Bank of Ghana staff and other key stakeholders to discuss developments within the financial sector and issues affecting the region’s economic growth.

During the meeting, discussions centered on the growing concern over emerging illegal financial practices and the need for stronger collaboration among relevant institutions to address these challenges. Both parties explored practical measures aimed at protecting the integrity of Ghana’s financial system while promoting a stable and secure financial environment.

Hon. Addae Akwaboa also highlighted several key development priorities for the Bono Region and appealed to the Bank of Ghana to support initiatives capable of accelerating socio-economic development. He noted that strategic institutional partnerships would play an important role in advancing the region’s development agenda.

The Regional Minister reaffirmed the Regional Coordinating Council’s commitment to maintaining close collaboration with the Bank of Ghana and assured the Governor and his delegation of the Council’s full support for the Bank’s initiatives and activities within the region.

The courtesy call underscored the shared commitment of the Bono Regional Coordinating Council and the Bank of Ghana to strengthening institutional cooperation, promoting sound financial governance, and supporting sustainable economic development in the Bono Region.
