BONO RCC INAUGURATES LOCAL ORGANIZING COMMITTEE FOR 42ND NATIONAL FARMERS’ DAY CELEBRATION

The Bono Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) has inaugurated a Local Organising Committee (LOC) to coordinate preparations for the 42nd National Farmers’ Day celebration, scheduled to take place in Sunyani.

The committee, chaired by the Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, will work closely with the National Farmers’ Day Planning Committee to ensure the timely and effective implementation of approved activities for the national celebration.

The six chairpersons of the local organising sub-committees will constitute the principal coordinating body for activities across the Bono Region, while members of the various sub-committees will serve as the operational arms of the LOC.

Speaking at the inauguration on 6th August 2026, Hon. Akwaboa assured the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the National Farmers’ Day Planning Committee of the RCC’s commitment to providing the leadership and coordination required for a successful celebration.

He urged members of the committee to meet regularly to review progress, identify challenges and provide the necessary direction to the various sub-committees.

The Regional Minister said the celebration should be organised in a manner that reflects the agricultural identity of the Bono Region and is characterised by orderliness, hospitality and inclusiveness.

Representing the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, the Ministry’s Chief Director, Mr. Paul Siameh, urged members of the sub-committees to avoid duplication of responsibilities and institutional rivalry.

He called on the committee members to adopt a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges, stressing the need to resolve potential difficulties well ahead of the celebration rather than allowing them to persist until the final week.

Mr. Siameh said the Minister and the National Farmers’ Day Planning Secretariat would provide the necessary policy direction and technical support to enable the LOC and its sub-committees to discharge their responsibilities effectively.

He further urged members to work collectively, diligently and impartially to ensure the success of the celebration, which is being held under the theme, “Our Farmers, Our Food, Our Future.”

The 42nd National Farmers’ Day celebration is expected to highlight the contribution of farmers, fishers and other value-chain actors to Ghana’s agricultural development and food security.

Following the inauguration, the committee was duly constituted and tasked with commencing preparations for the national celebration in Sunyani.
