VICE PRESIDENT LEADS JUNE 4TH ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATION IN BANDA AHENKRO
Banda Ahenkro played host to a high-profile gathering on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the June 4th Uprising, bringing together key national and regional leaders of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and government officials.
The event was attended by Her Excellency Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, alongside Johnson Asiedu Nketia, National Chairman of the NDC, and Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, General Secretary of the party.
They were joined by national and regional executives of the NDC, as well as government officials and members of the public.
The anniversary was on the theme “Strengthening State institutions: Lessons from the June 4 1979 Uprising”.

The commemoration served as an opportunity for reflection on the significance of the June 4th Uprising and its enduring impact on Ghana’s democratic and governance landscape. Participants used the occasion to reaffirm their commitment to the principles of accountability, social justice, and national development.
A major highlight of the event was the ceremonial sod-cutting for the construction of the Banda Inner Town Roads, led by Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang. The project is expected to improve road infrastructure, enhance connectivity within the community, and contribute to socio-economic development in the area.
The celebration attracted a large turnout and was successfully organized, underscoring the importance of the occasion and the continued efforts toward development and unity within the Banda District and the Bono Region.
