REGIONAL MINISTER CUTS SOD TO MARK COMMENCEMENT OF BEREKUM OUTER ROAD PROJECT

On April 22, 2025, a significant milestone was marked with the sod-cutting ceremony for the Berekum Outer Road project.

The 15-kilometer stretch will run from Mpatapo through Nyametease, Kyiribaa, and Kato to the Agapet Area, ultimately connecting to the Ahenfie Hotel road corridor. The project also include drainage systems as well as the tarring of the Biadan-Senase stretch.

The project is being executed by Fonasa Company Limited and it is expected to be completed within 12 months.

The project is seen as a reflection of the region’s collective commitment to improving connectivity, stimulating economic development, and enhancing the quality of life for residents in Berekum.

The Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, acknowledged the instrumental roles played by Hon. Simon Ampaabeng Kyeremeh, Member of Parliament for Berekum East, and Hon. Hajia Fatimatu Abubakar, Municipal Chief Executive for the Berekum East Municipal Assembly. Their leadership and collaboration were recognized as key drivers of the project’s launch.

The Minister expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their continuous support and emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation in delivering on infrastructure goals.

According to Hon. Akwaboa, the NDC government remains dedicated to completing all initiated projects and reaffirmed the administration’s determination to see the Berekum Outer Road project through to completion. The initiative is expected to unlock new opportunities and contribute to sustained prosperity across the Bono Region.

On completion, Hon. Simon Ampaabeng Kyeremeh, said the project would impact local businesses by improving accessibility to urban markets.

He therefore urged the local communities to cooperate with the contract and asked the contractor to also executive quality work.

Hon. Hajia Fatimatu Abubakar, expressed appreciation to the government for the project execution. She also commended the government for prioritizing and helping to improve women’s agricultural activities, saying the road would enable women farmers to access ready markets for their farm produce.
