The Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, has called on administrative officers within Ghana’s Local Government Service to strengthen their digital competencies and embrace continuous professional development to meet the changing demands of local governance.

He made the call on October 1, 2026, when he participated in the 7th Annual Conference of the Ghana Association of Local Government Service Administrative Officers (GALGA) held in Sunyani.

Held under the theme, “The Modern Administrator: Navigating Digital Transformation in Local Governance,” the conference brought together the Head of Local Government Service, Prof. Lord Mensah; administrative officers and other stakeholders to deliberate on emerging issues affecting the effective administration of local government.

The Regional Minister emphasised the important role of administrative officers in translating government policies and programmes into tangible development outcomes at the community level.

He further encouraged local government administrators to uphold professionalism, integrity and accountability while making greater use of technology and data to enhance revenue mobilisation, improve service delivery and strengthen citizen engagement.

The Regional Minister also reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to capacity building, staff welfare and the creation of an enabling environment for a more effective, responsive and digitally driven Local Government Service.
