The government has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding infrastructure and improving living conditions in the Banda District, with several projects underway across key sectors of the local economy.

Speaking at the Accounting to the People forum held at Banda-Ahenkro on 3rd October 2026, the Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, said development interventions were being implemented across the district, with the expectation that all communities would benefit by the end of the government’s four-year term.

He disclosed that more than 250 kilometres of roads were under construction across the Bono Region, alongside approximately 140 projects being executed under the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).

According to the Regional Minister, the ongoing interventions cover critical sectors, including education, healthcare, roads, water and sanitation, and security, as part of broader efforts to address infrastructure gaps and promote development across communities.

The Banda District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Peter Dongi, also disclosed that approximately 75 major physical infrastructure projects were being undertaken across the district to improve living standards and stimulate economic growth.

He explained that the projects reflected the government’s commitment to addressing the district’s infrastructure deficit and creating conditions for sustainable development.

In the education sector, Hon. Dongi identified classroom blocks, dormitories, teachers’ quarters and nurses’ quarters among the projects being undertaken. Other interventions include police stations and Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds aimed at strengthening security and improving access to healthcare.

The DCE noted that while some projects had been completed, others were at various stages of construction.

The Member of Parliament for the Banda Constituency and Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, welcomed the level of infrastructure development in the district, describing it as an indication of the government’s commitment to improving the area.

He reaffirmed his commitment to using his position to support development initiatives in the constituency and empower community members to take an active role in driving local development.

The Accounting to the People forum provided a platform for government officials to outline ongoing development interventions and engage residents on efforts to improve infrastructure and service delivery in the Banda District.
