BONO REGIONAL MINISTER HIGHLIGHTS DEVELOPMENT GAINS DURING JAMAN SOUTH ACCOUNTABILITY TOUR
Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, the Bono Regional Minister, participated in a community engagement durbar at Drobo in the Jaman South Municipality on 6th May 2026 as part of the ongoing “Accounting to the People” tour across the Bono Region.
Addressing traditional authorities, residents, and other stakeholders at the gathering, the Regional Minister stated that recent government interventions in the education sector were contributing to accelerated infrastructure development within the region. He noted that the uncapping of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) under the administration of John Dramani Mahama had created opportunities for the expansion of educational facilities across various levels of learning.
According to him, a number of projects currently being undertaken in the region include the construction of science laboratories, administration blocks, dormitories, and classroom facilities in tertiary institutions, senior high schools, and basic schools.
The Minister explained that the “Accounting to the People” initiative was designed to strengthen transparency, deepen citizen participation in governance, and provide regular updates on government programmes and development activities.
He also addressed concerns within the cashew sector, appealing to farmers in the municipality to remain patient as efforts continue toward the establishment of a Cashew Board to regulate and support the industry.
Speaking at the same event, Hon. Siata Watara, the Jaman South Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) urged residents and traditional leaders to promote unity and collaboration in support of the municipality’s development agenda. She emphasized that the accountability forum was intended not only to present reports, but also to demonstrate how public funds and local resources were being translated into development projects and services.

The MCE outlined several achievements recorded by the Jaman South Municipal Assembly in areas such as revenue mobilization, security, sanitation, and socio-economic development. She added that multiple projects in the road, health, and education sectors were currently ongoing within the municipality.
A day before the durbar, the Bono Regional Minister, the MCE, and officials from the Regional Coordinating Council undertook inspections of a number of ongoing development projects across the municipality to assess the progress of work.
During the visit to Bodaa, the delegation inspected a completed Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound constructed by the Jaman South Municipal Assembly. The team also visited Kofiko, where a newly completed three-unit classroom block was assessed.
The tour continued to Anuguano, where construction works on both a CHPS Compound and a kindergarten block are currently underway. The projects are expected to enhance access to healthcare and early childhood education within the community.
In Japekrom, the Regional Minister and his team inspected several completed infrastructure projects, including newly drilled boreholes, the Methodist Junior High School block, and a renovated Fire Service Station. These projects are intended to improve access to clean water, strengthen educational infrastructure, and support emergency response services in the area.
At the TSC Technical Institute located at Drobo-Gunasua, the Regional Minister assured students and school authorities of the government’s commitment to completing an ongoing dormitory block project. He also encouraged students to remain focused on their studies and strive for academic excellence.
The inspection formed part of ongoing efforts to monitor developmental initiatives across the Bono Region and ensure that projects are delivering tangible benefits to local communities.
