BONO REGIONAL MINISTER CONCLUDES BEREKUM EAST ACCOUNTABILITY TOUR WITH FOCUS ON DEVELOPMENT PROGRESS

The Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, has completed a two-day “Accounting to the People” engagement in the Berekum East Municipality, an initiative designed to strengthen public accountability, engage residents, and review the implementation of government and local development projects.

The exercise ended on 17th July 2026 with a public durbar that attracted a broad cross-section of the municipality, including traditional leaders, assembly members, heads of government departments, civil society organizations, youth representatives, market women, and community members. The gathering provided an opportunity for residents to interact with local authorities and receive updates on governance and development activities.

As part of the event, the Municipal Chief Executive for Berekum East, Hon. Hajia Fatimatu Abubakar, presented an account of her administration’s performance over the previous eighteen months. Her presentation outlined key initiatives, projects, and achievements undertaken during the period under the administration of President John Dramani Mahama.

The first day of the tour, held on 16th July 2026, was dedicated to field inspections of several ongoing infrastructure projects being implemented by the Municipal Assembly and the area’s Member of Parliament. The inspections focused primarily on education and healthcare facilities intended to improve access to essential public services.

Among the sites visited were classroom blocks at Kyereyawkrom M/A Junior High School, Kato RC Kindergarten, Biadan Methodist ‘A’ Junior High School, Kutire, and Berekum M/A Basic School. The Regional Minister also inspected Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds at Namasua and Mpatasie before commissioning the newly completed Berekum Police Station.

Following the inspections, Hon. Addae Akwaboa expressed satisfaction with the progress of the projects, describing the pace of development as encouraging. He stated that the visible improvements reflected the government’s commitment to expanding infrastructure and improving public services, while expressing confidence that ongoing initiatives would continue to support the municipality’s development.
