GOLDBOD TASKFORCE MEETS BONO REGIONAL MINISTER ON SUSTAINABLE MINING EFFORTS

On 9th March 2026, the Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, hosted the Compliance and Taskforce Team of Ghana Gold Board (GOLDBOD) responsible for the Bono and Ahafo Regions.

The delegation was led by Suleman Mohammed-Mustapha and visited the Bono Regional Coordinating Council to engage the regional leadership on efforts to address illegal mining and promote sustainable mining.

The meeting served as an opportunity to formally welcome the team and acquaint them with the regional context and the ongoing efforts to tackle the challenges associated with illegal mining activities.

Discussions emphasized the need for the taskforce’s operations to align closely with the broader objectives of the region. The approach is expected to complement the work of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) and strengthen coordinated efforts to manage mining activities responsibly.

Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa reaffirmed the Regional Coordinating Council’s commitment to supporting the team in carrying out its mandate.

He stressed the importance of promoting responsible mining practices while safeguarding the environment and natural resources to ensure sustainable development for communities across the region.
