BONO REGIONAL MINISTER AND SEC DISCUSS INVESTOR EDUCATION AND PROTECTION

The Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, has underscored the importance of sustained public education on financial literacy, responsible investment and investor protection to help citizens make informed financial decisions and safeguard their investments.

He made the remarks when the Director-General of Ghana’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Dr. James Klutse Avedzi, and his delegation paid a courtesy call on him at his office on 14th October 2026.

The visit was to brief the Regional Minister on the Commission’s presence and planned activities in Sunyani, particularly its efforts to intensify public awareness of investment opportunities, savings, responsible investment practices and measures to identify and avoid fraudulent investment schemes, including Ponzi schemes.

During the meeting, Dr. Avedzi also formally invited Hon. Akwaboa to the Commission’s programme scheduled for Thursday.

The Regional Minister commended the SEC for its planned public education initiatives and emphasised the need for continuous awareness creation to equip residents with the knowledge required to make sound financial choices and protect themselves against investment fraud.
