BONO REGIONAL MINISTER ENCOURAGES STUDENTS AT SUNYANI’S 69TH INDEPENDENCE DAY QUIZ COMPETITION

On 6th March 2026, the 69th Independence Day Quiz Competition was held at the Wesley Cathedral of the Methodist Church Ghana in Sunyani, bringing together students, dignitaries, and members of the community to celebrate Ghana’s independence through academic excellence.

The event was attended by the Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, who was accompanied by several distinguished personalities, including the Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), H.E Kwadwo Nyamekye Marfo, Hon. Seid Mubarak, Member of Parliament for the Sunyani East Constituency, and Hon. Vincent Antwi Agyei, Municipal Chief Executive for Sunyani East, Regional Director of Education, among other notable guests.

During the event, the Regional Minister conveyed warm greetings from the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, to the students and participants.

He encouraged the youth to remain committed to academic excellence as the nation commemorates its independence, emphasizing the importance of education in shaping the country’s future.

The quiz competition served as a platform to highlight the intellectual abilities and potential of young people in the region. The enthusiasm, confidence, and depth of knowledge demonstrated by the participants reflected the promise and capability of the younger generation.

The Regional Minister also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening education and promoting youth development in the Bono Region.

He urged the students to take advantage of the many opportunities available to them and to remain determined in their pursuit of knowledge and personal growth, noting that such dedication would contribute significantly to the development of the region and the nation as a whole.
