BONO REGIONAL MINISTER HOSTS COCOBOD BOARD CHAIR FOR STRATEGIC COCOA SECTOR DIALOGUE
The Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, hosted the Board Chairman of COCOBOD, Hon. Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, and his delegation on 18th November 2025 at the Bono Regional Coordinating Council.
The meeting focused on strengthening the nation’s cocoa industry amid growing concerns over persistent challenges.
A major issue highlighted during the engagement was the widespread problem of cocoa smuggling, which continues to threaten the economic stability of farmers and the overall profitability of the sector.

The discussions underscored the urgent need for comprehensive strategies and coordinated interventions to protect the industry and its stakeholders.
The session featured contributions from the Regional Security Committee, Traditional Leaders, and various District Security Committees within the Bono Region.
Together, these stakeholders expressed a shared commitment to tackling cocoa smuggling and safeguarding the sustainability and growth of the cocoa industry, recognizing its critical importance to both local communities and the national economy.
