BONO REGIONAL PEACE COUNCIL MARKS 2022 EDITION OF INTERNATIONAL PEACE DAY AT SUNYANI

The 2022 edition of the International Peace Day of the Bono Region was held on Wednesday, 21st September 2022 at the Institute of Continuing and Distance Education in Sunyani. The theme for the event was “End Racism, Build Peace”.

The event was graced by dignitaries like Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene who is the Bono Regional Minister, Osaagyefo Oseadeayo Dr. Agyemang Badu II, President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs and Dormaa Manhene, Rev. Fr. Williams Kyere, Chairman of Regional Peace Council, Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante, former Chairman, National Peace Council, Hon. Lawyer Alfred Tuah-Yeboah, Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Bishop Dr. Owusu Akyeaw, Member of Regional Peace Council, Alhaji Suallah Quandah, Regional Executive Secretary, Hon. Ansu Kumi, MCE of Sunyani Municipal, DCO{ Mr. Joseph Gyamera Oklu, Regional Police Commander, L C J. Y Kwarteng, Commanding Officer, 3BN, Imam Mohammed Ishaq, Member of Bono Regional Peace Council.

The Guest Speaker, Most Rev. Prof Emmanuel Asante, delivered a speech on the topic: “Effects of Ethnicism on Sustainable Peace in Ghana”.

The Second Speaker who was Hon. Lawyer Alfred Tuah-Yeboah, made an address on the topic: “Safeguarding the Rights of Minority groups for sustainable peace”.

The Honourable Bono Regional Minister, Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene who was the Special Guest of Honour at the event, presented a Citation to Members of the Regional Peace Council, after which there were remarks from Hon. Ansu Kumi, DCOP Mr. Joseph Gyamera Oklu and L. C. J. Y. Kwarteng.

In her address, Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene emphasized how important a peaceful society is in our socio-economic development and urged all and sundry to continue to live in peace and harmony so that the developmental needs of the region can be attained.
