BONO REGIONAL MINISTER CALLS FOR UNITY AND GOOD GOVERNANCE AT MAIDEN NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER AND THANKSGIVING

Ghanaians have been urged to embrace national unity as the cornerstone for accelerated growth and shared prosperity. The call was made by the Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, during the Bono Region’s observance of the first-ever National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving at the Sunyani Jubilee Park on 1st July 2025.
The event, held under the theme “Reflect, Reset and Renew for National Prosperity,” brought together hundreds of attendees for a moment of spiritual reflection and collective gratitude.
The National Day of Prayer, recently instituted by President John Dramani Mahama, is to be observed annually on July 1 as a moment for spiritual introspection, national thanksgiving, and the strengthening of unity across the country.

In his address, Hon. Akwaboa emphasized that Ghana’s transformation hinges on renewed dedication to values such as good governance, youth empowerment, quality education, innovation, agricultural development, and environmental care.
“The time to act is now, and the foundation of our actions must be laid in prayer and national unity,” he stated.
Drawing inspiration from II Chronicles 7:14, he encouraged citizens to humble themselves, lead godly lives, and act as agents of transformation, spiritually grounded, morally strong, and deeply invested in the country’s development.
Despite economic challenges, global instability, youth unemployment, and social tensions, Hon. Akwaboa affirmed that Ghana remains blessed through divine mercy. He called on the public to cultivate a renewed spirit of prayer and togetherness as the nation seeks guidance for lasting peace and sustainable progress.
“May God build our land, restore our environment, strengthen our economy, renew our hearts, and bind us together as one people with a shared identity and common destiny,” he prayed.

He further urged Ghanaians to confront past failures with honesty and boldness, to “reset and break free from division, corruption, apathy, and indiscipline that hinder progress.”
The event featured a sermon by Right Reverend Dr. Festus Yeboah Asuamah, Anglican Bishop of the Sunyani Diocese and Chairman of the Sunyani Christian Council. He called on citizens to turn from unrighteousness and strive to live lives that honor God.
Apostle Adu Kyeremeh, Head Pastor of Temple of Praise Church, who presided over the service, stressed the importance of godly leadership and unity. He emphasized that Ghana’s rich natural resources could only be fully realized under morally upright and visionary governance.
Special prayers were offered for the nation, President John Dramani Mahama, and for lasting peace, prosperity, and national cohesion.
