BONO TABLE TENNIS ASSOCIATION COMMEMORATE WORLD TABLE TENNIS DAY
The Bono table tennis Association held its Table Tennis Open championship to commemorate World Table Tennis Day on the 20th of May, 2023 at Sunyani Senior High School, With the Theme: “Think Sustainably, Act Now”.
The chairman of the Association Mr. Manfred Nyarko welcomed all the participants and everyone present at the program and thanked them all for their support, and he told the participants to enjoy the championship.
The Bono Regional Director of Sports Mr. Foster Kwame Opoku Boakye also welcomed the participants and commended the chairman and the executive for paving the way for such a program. He wished all the participants the best of luck during the championship.
Positions at the end of the Championship are as follows for the Senior Category:
Mr. Cosmos Oppong (CONGO) won the first(1st) position, and he was awarded a certificate, cash prize, and a gold medal from the Ashanti Region.
Mr. Benjamin Frimpong won the second (2nd) position, and he was awarded a certificate, a cash prize, and a silver medal, also from the Ashanti Region
Mr. Reginald Addo Ankamah won the third (3rd) position and was awarded a certificate, cash prize, and a Bronze Medal also from the Northern Region
Mr. Eric Kumi also won the Fourth (4th) position and was awarded a certificate, cash prize, and a bronze medal from the Bono Region.
In the Junior category, Fredrick Mensah, 12 year old, won the first prize, a student of Sokoban M/A Basic School In the Ashanti region won a Gold Medal, a Certificate, Cash prize and educational Souvenirs were given to him.
Michael Mensah, 15-year-old, a student of Opoku Ware Senior High School(OWASS), was second(2nd) and received a silver medal, certificate, cash prize, and educational souvenirs was given to him.
Justice Amponsah,15-year-old, a student of Redemption Academy at Sokoban in the Ashanti Region, was Third (3rd), received a Bronze medal, certificate, cash prize and educational souvenirs was given to him.
Daniel Kwame Boateng, 15-year-old years-old old and a student of Opoku Ware Sernior High School (OWASS) and a member of Ashanti Table Tennis Association Won the Fourth(4th) place with a cash prize, Bronze medal and a certificate.
The only lady who played among the guys Wendy Mensah, a member of Ashanti Table Tennis Association, was given a gold medal, certificate, and a cash prize. Gideon Ofosu, a student at High Street JHS, Penkwase, and Godfred Oteng, were awarded a certificate.
The chairman gave the closing remarks and thanked the participants for such an amazing performance display, and encouraged them to keep up the good work done .
In attendance were Mr. Foster Kwame Opoku Boakye (Bono Regional Sports Director), Mr. Manfred Nyarko (chairman of the Association), Mr. Kwadwo Fredua Agyeman (secretary of the Association and Sports development officer), Mr. George K. Ablometi, (Taekwondo coach), Mr. Mike Kwame Penou (Athletics coach), Mr. Vincent Ayikoe (Handball coach), Mr. Emmanuel Nsor(Foreman), Sandra Kannor (Communication and sponsorship Director for the association), and some members were also present.
