BONO REGIONAL MINISTER ENGAGES STAKEHOLDERS OVER 24-HOUR ECONOMY MARKET PROJECT DELAYS

The Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, has engaged contractors, consultants and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to assess the progress of the government’s flagship 24-Hour Economy Market Project and address challenges affecting its implementation.

The engagement, held on September 22 2026, focused on delays and other project-specific challenges that have hindered the effective execution of the market projects across the region.

The meeting provided stakeholders with an opportunity to identify key bottlenecks affecting progress and consider practical measures to accelerate construction and ensure the timely delivery of the projects to their intended beneficiaries.

Hon. Akwaboa cautioned contractors against complacency, lackadaisical attitudes and unnecessary delays, urging them to demonstrate a high level of commitment, professionalism and urgency in the execution of their respective contracts.

He stressed that contractors were expected to adhere strictly to their contractual obligations and timelines, noting that failure to demonstrate the requisite commitment towards timely project completion could result in the termination of contracts in accordance with the terms and conditions of the agreements.

The Regional Minister reaffirmed the commitment of the Bono Regional Coordinating Council to working closely with contractors, consultants, MMDCEs and other relevant stakeholders to address identified challenges and facilitate the successful implementation of the 24-Hour Economy Market Project.

The initiative is expected to contribute to improved market infrastructure, expanded economic opportunities and enhanced commercial activity within communities across the Bono Region.
