ROADS AND HIGHWAYS MINISTER EMBARKS ON COMPREHENSIVE TOUR OF BONO REGION’S ROADS

On April 2, 2025, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, the Bono Regional Minister, welcomed Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza, the Minister for Roads and Highways to the Bono Region for a comprehensive tour aimed at assessing the condition of the region’s inner-city and ring roads.
The tour was attended by key figures, including Members of Parliament for Sunyani West and East, Berekum West, the MCE nominee for Sunyani Municipal, the Bono Regional 1st Vice Chairman of the NDC, the Sunyani East Constituency Chairman, as well as officials of Urban Roads and Highways in the region.

The Roads and Highways Minister’s visit is seen as a significant step forward in efforts to revitalize Sunyani’s infrastructure, particularly its road networks, in line with President Mahama’s vision for modernizing the city. As part of the initiative, several critical roads, including the Alaska, Berlin Top – Baakoniaba, Odumase, and Pastoral Centre roads, are set to undergo major reconstruction.
In addition to these local improvements, residents of the Bono, Bono East, Savannah, and Upper West regions can expect enhanced road connectivity through the government’s Big Push Initiative. A major project under this initiative will see the reconstruction of the Sunyani-Techiman-Wenchi-Wa-Hamile road, with work scheduled to begin in June 2025.

Furthermore, Hon. Agbodza is set to visit the Jaman North and South constituencies to inspect ongoing reconstruction work on the Jinjini-Drobo-Sampa road corridor. This project aims to improve connectivity and stimulate socioeconomic development in the Jaman area.
The visit of Hon. Agbodza was praised by the Regional Minister, with gratitude expressed towards the President and Minister of Roads and Highways for their proactive efforts in addressing the region’s infrastructure challenges. There is a strong sense of optimism that these initiatives will pave the way for a more prosperous future for the Bono Region.
