On 18th March 2026, the Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, joined His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, along with the National Chairman of the NDC, Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, and the Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, among other government and party officials, at a ceremonial event in Dormaa Ahenkro.

The occasion marked the official groundbreaking ceremony for work to commence on the construction of a 24-hour economy model market, an initiative aimed at boosting local commerce and expanding economic opportunities within the area. The ceremony underscored the government’s commitment to promoting continuous economic activity and regional development.

The President is in the region for the Regional Accountability Series where he is expected to address a durbar of chiefs and the people of Bono Region, inspect ongoing GETFUND educational projects and assess progress of work on some major road construction projects.

As part of the visit, the President inspected ongoing construction works on the Jinijini–Sampa Road, a key infrastructure project expected to improve connectivity and facilitate trade across the region.

The event signaled a significant step toward advancing economic growth and infrastructural transformation in the Bono Region.
