NDPC ORGANIZES DISSEMINATION WORKSHOP ON THE INTEGRATED SOCIAL SERVICE GOVERNANCE FRAMEWORK AT SUNYANI
The National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) in partnership with UNICEF has developed a governance framework for the operationalization of the Integrated Social Service (ISS) delivery programme.
The objective of the framework is to provide clear roles and responsibilities for all stakeholders as well as highlight strategies/actions that can help improve the ISS programme.
In lieu of above, the Commission invited selected Officers from the Regional Coordinating Councils (RCC) of Bono, Bono East, Ahafo and Upper West Regions, as well as all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Coordinating Directors of these Regions to a series of zonal workshops on the governance framework for ISS.
The officers from the RCCs were the Chief Directors, Regional Development Planning Officers, Regional Directors of Department of Social Welfare, Regional Directors of Department of Community Development and Regional Directors of Department of Children.
The objective of the workshop was to share with stakeholders the governance framework as well as discuss ways forward for enhancing ISS delivery at the subnational level.
The workshop was held on Monday, 20th May,2024 at the Adult Education Learning Centre Conference Room, Sunyani, Bono Region.
In a welcome address read on her behalf, the Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Justina Owusu-Banahene, encouraged all participants to engage actively in the sessions, share their insights and experiences, and collaborate effectively towards the successful implementation of the Framework.
Hon. Banahene said expertise and commitment of participants are vital to making the initiative a success. She therefore urged participants to work together and build a stronger social services system that not only meets the immediate needs of the people but also a long -term development and social cohesion.
The Director General of NDPC, Prof. Kodjo Mensah-Abrampa gave the purpose of the workshop in his speech, after which there was a statement from a representative of UNICEF, a development partner for the ISS programme.
Afterwards, there was a presentation on governance framework from a representative of NDPC which was followed by discussions on the governance framework from all members.
The workshop concluded with a way-forward statement from the National Director of NDPC.
