BONO REGIONAL COMMITTEE ON MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES PROMOTION HOLDS CONSULTATIVE MEETING AT SUNYANI

On Tuesday, 21^st May 2024, the Bono Regional Committtee on Micro, Small And Medium Entreprises Promotion (RECOMEP) had its consultative meeting at the Conference Room of the Bono Regional Coordinating Council.

Present at the Meeting was a representative of the Bono Regional Minister, Mr. Alexander Bae-Yeboah, Municipal Chief Executive of Dormaa Central, Hon. Drissah Quattara, Municipal Chief Executive of Jaman South, Hon.Andrews Bediako, Coordinating Directors of the various Municipal/District Assemblies (MDAs), Planning Officers of MDAs and Chairpersons of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Sub-committee (MSME) of MDAs who are members of RECOMEP.

Other key stakeholders of RECOMEP present at the meeting were the National Director of Rural Enterprises Programme (REP), Mr. Kwasi Attah-Antwi, Head of Partnership Building and Institutional Development Component of REP, Mr. George Afriyie, the Regional Development Planning Officer in the person of Mr. Joseph Mensah among others.

In a welcome address read on her behalf, the Hon. Bono Regional Minister, Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene implored all members to actively engage in the discussions and contribute meaningfully their insights towards shaping policies and programmes that will benefit MSMEs in the region to move the region forward.

After the Regional Minister’s address, there was an opening remark from the National Director of REP. The Regional Development Planning Officer then gave a presentation on the overview of the operations of RECOMEP.

Subsequently, the Officers of REP also gave an overview of REP and the role of MDAs in the operations of REP.

Afterwards there were presentations from each of the beneficiary MDAs of REP. The presentations highlighted on issues such as the operations of the MSME Sub-committee in the various MDAs, mainstreaming and integration of MSME development within the MDAs system, support to the operations of the BAC and Technology Solutions Center (TSC) in the MDAs.

The consultative meeting was very fruitful and lively as it gave members the opportunity to exchange ideas, share best practices, and chart a way forward for the sustainable development of MSMEs in the region.
