CHAMPIONING WORKERS’ RIGHTS: REGIONAL MINISTERS MARK MAY DAY IN SUNYANI

At the May Day celebration held at the Sunyani Jubilee Park on 1st May 2025, workers and stakeholders from the Bono, Ahafo, and Bono East regions gathered to commemorate the occasion and reflect on both the achievements and ongoing challenges within the labour sector.
The event was attended by the Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, and the Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi.
In his address, Hon. Akwaboa underscored the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to build a more equitable society where the rights of workers are both protected and valued. He affirmed the government’s commitment to improving pay and working conditions, while also focusing on the creation of decent-paying jobs for the youth.

He further stated that efforts would continue to be directed toward ensuring fairness, equity, and prosperity for all workers. Hon. Akwaboa called on all stakeholders—employers, employees, entrepreneurs, and labour unions—to support this national agenda. The broader goal, he said, is to reset the country through the implementation of worker-friendly policies that promote well-being and sustainable development.
As part of his closing remarks, he expressed hope that the spirit of collective effort would be embraced to overcome existing challenges and to build a more prosperous region and nation—one where the contributions of workers are recognized and their rights are upheld.
