BONO REGIONAL MINISTER CELEBRATES STU MATERIALS ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT’S 10TH ANNIVERSARY

On Thursday, 17th July 2025, the Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, joined the Department of Materials Engineering Technology at Sunyani Technical University (STU) to commemorate its 10th Anniversary.

The event, held under the theme “Shaping the Fourth Industrial Revolution: A Decade of Advancing Welding and Energy Solutions through Materials Engineering”, showcased the department’s dedication to innovation, technical education, and national development.

Over the past ten years, the department has made notable strides in producing skilled professionals, conducting impactful research, and fostering collaboration with industry.

The Minister highlighted the importance of strengthening academia-industry partnerships to promote industrialization and energy sustainability in Ghana.

He also encouraged students and graduates to embrace their roles as future leaders of the next industrial revolution, urging them to dream boldly and innovate with purpose.

The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment, under the leadership of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, to supporting higher education and investing in departments like Materials Engineering that contribute to Ghana’s long-term progress.

He extended his congratulations to the department on reaching this milestone and praised its contributions to shaping a forward-looking, technologically-driven Ghana.
