On Thursday, 19th September 2024, the Bono Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) as part of the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Program (GSCSP) through the Annual Capacity Support Plan (ACSP), organized a training workshop for some selected staff of Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the region as well as some staff of the RCC.

The training workshop was on the use of the Ghana Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS).

Procurement Officers, Budget Analysts and Finance Officers from the MMDAs and RCC participated in the workshop which occurred at the Conference Room of the RCC in Sunyani.

Mr. Joshua Mireku, the Regional Budget Analyst, who opened the workshop on behalf of the Regional Minister and Chief Director, encouraged the participants to take the training seriously. He indicated that most of the financial transactions which happen at the MMDAs are done outside the GIFMIS system and advised staff to desist from that.

Mr. Mireku therefore urged participants to take advantage of the training to refresh their memories and build capacity on the use of the GIFMIS system so that they can use it appropriately.

The facilitator for the training workshop was Mr. Collins Safo, a Staff of Controller and Accountant Generals Department in Bono Region.

Mr. Safo took participants through sessions like Introduction and Basics of GIFMIS, Requisition, Purchase Order and Stores Record Advice, Payment Voucher and Payment, among others.

A questions and answers session followed the presentation which allowed clarity to be brought on issues bothering the participants.

Mr. Andrews Mensah, the Chief Director of Bono RCC, gave the closing remarks at the end of the training and thanked staff for their commitment and sacrifice in making the workshop a success.

He also urged staff to take what has been taught in practice in their work schedule. He further cautioned staff to be careful and not get involved in partisan politics especially at their workplace as we enter an election period.
