The Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the Bono Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), has held the 2027–2030 Regional Composite Budget Hearings in Sunyani to assess the performance of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), review development priorities, and ensure that government policies and community needs are reflected in realistic and implementable projects.

Addressing the hearing on 23rd October 2026, the Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, read a speech on behalf of the Minister of Finance, Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, urging MMDAs to comply with budget preparation guidelines and operate within approved budget ceilings.

The address emphasised the need for assemblies to strengthen the mobilisation of Internally Generated Funds (IGF), explore opportunities under the 24-hour economy initiative, and ensure strict compliance with public procurement regulations. It also called on the assemblies to allocate at least 20 percent of their IGF to capital projects that directly benefit residents.

In his own address, Hon. Akwaboa urged assemblies across the Bono Region to prioritize investments in essential office equipment, furniture and decent washroom facilities to improve productivity, administrative efficiency, staff welfare and public service delivery.

He explained that these investments formed part of his Institutional Transformation for Accelerated Development in the Bono Region initiative, stressing that such facilities should be regarded as essential requirements for effective institutional performance rather than luxuries.

The hearing provided a platform for reviewing the assemblies’ budgetary priorities and reinforcing the need for prudent financial management, improved institutional capacity and development planning that responds to the needs of communities across the region.
