Mr. Gabriel Antwi, the Bono Regional Director of Education has appealed to stakeholders to help stem the growing trend of examination malpractices in the Region.

He said examination malpractices remained a serious offence punishable by law, urging the stakeholders to apprehend those who leaked examination papers for them to be prosecuted.

Mr. Antwi made the appeal when he interacted with the Sunyani Zongo community at a meeting in Sunyani organised by the directorate to identify and find lasting solutions to some challenges confronting the education sector.

He emphasized that the directorate required collective support from the Imams, Zongo chiefs, parents, and guardians to stem examination malpractices, asking them to support that course, saying the growing malpractices were denting the image of the region.

Mr. Antwi said 19 out of the 36 public Senior High Schools in the region had some of the results cancelled and withheld in the 2024 West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) due to examination malpractices.

He also cautioned parents and guardians to desist from the bad practice of paying money to teachers for leakage of examination papers, saying transparency, accountability, innovation, and inclusive collaboration remained key values of education.

“Examination malpractices don’t only affect children in their academic journey, but the entire development process of the nation as the practice breeds corruption,” he stated.

Alhaji Imam Baba Seidu, the Bono Regional Chief Imam urged the directorate to intensify supervision in Basic and Senior High Schools.
