REGIONAL AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT ORGANIZES TECHNICAL REVIEW MEETING WITH DISTRICT DIRECTORS AND MIS OFFICERS
The Regional Agriculture Department (RAD) organized a technical review meeting with the District Directors and MIS Officers in the region. The first meeting of the year was held on 16th February 2023 and aimed at reviewing the performance of agriculture in 2022, to identify challenges and offer feasible solutions. The meeting afforded the Districts the opportunity to discuss their plans for 2023.
Among the dignitaries in attendance were the Regional Minister (Hon. Justina Owusu Banahene), the Chief Director of RCC (Mr. Andrew Okumah Nawil) and the Regional Director of Agriculture (Mr. Denis Abugri Amenga).
In her opening remarks, the Bono Regional Minister urged every government officer to set up a backyard garden and plant some crops. According to her, this will help control spending and make food available to the immediate family during the lean season. This will also control weeds and keep predators, like snakes, away from their homes. She added that staff should avail themselves for further studies and also network with people within or outside the organization they work. There is also the need to discourage the use of inorganic fertilizers by farmers by motivating them to use organic fertilizers, especially for vegetable production.
