AGRIC DEPARTMENT IN BEREKUM WEST COLLABORATE WITH CRI TO ESTABLISH CROP VARIETAL TRIAL FIELDS

The Berekum West Department of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Crop Research Institute (CRI) of the Center for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), has established crop varietal trial fields to assess their adaptability and also compare yield differences with locally grown varieties.
The crops include tomatoes (Kwabena Kwabena and Kopia tomatoes), okra, and amaranths. In the third quarter, however, harvesting and weighing of fruits were done by the Supervising Officer and reports indicated good output, although the weather was not favourable.
In all, forty-eight (48) farmers were involved in the trial, including 32 women and 7 youths.
