BONO MINISTER OPENS 18TH COHHETI AGM, HIGHLIGHTS GOVERNMENT’S COMMITMENT TO HEALTH TRAINING
The Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, joined stakeholders and health educators at the 18th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Conference of Heads of Health Training Institutions (COHHETI), held at Tyco City Hotel in Sunyani on 28th October 2025.
The event, themed “Transforming Health Training for a Resilient Workforce: Specialization, Innovation, and Quality Assurance,” focused on strengthening the capacity and relevance of Ghana’s health training institutions in meeting modern healthcare demands.
Hon. Akwaboa emphasized that the theme aligns closely with the government’s ongoing commitment to improving healthcare delivery in Ghana.
He highlighted the pivotal role of health training institutions in shaping a resilient and competent health workforce capable of advancing national health outcomes.

He noted that under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, the NDC government has made health a central pillar of its national reset agenda. Key interventions include the expansion and upgrading of health training institutions, recruitment and regularization of tutors, and curriculum reviews to meet international standards.
These efforts, he explained, are aimed at equipping healthcare professionals with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide quality and compassionate care.
The Minister also encouraged policymakers, educators, practitioners, and students to embrace innovation and continuous learning as a means to enhance the quality and relevance of health education.
He formally declared the 18th COHHETI conference open and wished participants fruitful deliberations, assuring them of the full support of the Bono Regional Coordinating Council throughout their stay in the region.
