BONO REGIONAL MINISTER COMMENDS GHANA MEDICAL TRUST FUND – MAHAMA CARES INITIATIVE
On 21st October 2025, the Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, engaged with a distinguished delegation from the Ghana Medical Trust Fund – Mahama Cares, led by Obuobia Darko-Opoku.
The delegation included Mr. Eric Adjei Esq., Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP); Dr. Afram Obrempong, a Member of the Council of State and Paramount Chief of the Suma Traditional Area in the Bono Region; and H.E Kwadwo Nyamekye Marfo, the Bono Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The meeting was marked by a cordial and insightful exchange of ideas focused on strengthening healthcare delivery in the region.

The Regional Minister commended the Ghana Medical Trust Fund for its pivotal role in enhancing the capacity of the Sunyani Teaching Hospital to provide quality medical care not only to residents of the Bono Region but also to surrounding areas and even patients from Côte d’Ivoire.
Hon. Akwaboa lauded Obuobia Darko-Opoku and her team for their unwavering dedication to advancing the objectives of the Mahama Cares initiative. He emphasized that such interventions are crucial to building a resilient healthcare system capable of meeting the evolving needs of the nation.
He further highlighted that the collaborative efforts embodied in the Mahama Cares initiative reflect a genuine commitment to improving the health and well-being of communities across Ghana.
