HON. JOSEPH ADDAE AKWABOA MEETS MANAGEMENT OF GRIDCO IN SUNYANI

On Thursday, March 27th, 2025, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, the Bono Regional Minister, held a productive meeting at his office in Sunyani with Mr. Bismark Anane, Director of Land Management at GRIDCO’s Head Office, and Mr. Lawrence Doe, the Regional Manager for GRIDCO’s Bono and Bono East Regions.

The meeting focused on the issue of encroachment on GRIDCO’s transmission lines within the Sunyani Municipality, particularly in areas like the Nana Bosoma Market and Sunyani Magazine. These encroachments, mainly by market vendors, mechanics, and other business owners, have raised concerns about the safety risks associated with high-tension lines.

A comprehensive plan was discussed to engage local leaders and encroachers, aiming to raise awareness about the dangers posed by such encroachments. This initiative will be followed by a public education campaign designed to further inform and protect the community.

Additionally, it was discussed that a decongestion exercise will be organized to remove encroachers from the affected areas and ensure compliance with safety regulations. This operation will be carried out in a peaceful and orderly manner, with the cooperation of local authorities and relevant stakeholders.

The issue of recent power outages in the region was also addressed. The Minister urged GRIDCO to provide technical support to stakeholders like NEDCO to resolve the outages and ensure a more reliable electricity supply for homes, businesses, and industries.
