BONO REGIONAL MINISTER COMMISSIONS NEW EYE CLINIC IN HONOUR OF PHILANTROPIST

On April 15, 2025, the Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, commissioned a newly established eye clinic in Abesim.
The facility, a generous donation from Mr. Joseph Konadu, CEO of Joekona Company Limited, and his family, was presented to the community in celebration of Mr. Konadu’s 70th birthday.
The Minister praised Mr. Konadu for his visionary contribution to healthcare and expressed appreciation for the role of community leadership in driving development.

He also acknowledged the remarks of the Paramount Queen Mother of the Dormaa Traditional Area, Odeneho Dr. Akosua Fima Dwabeng Ababio II, who encouraged the youth to emulate Mr. Konadu’s example of selflessness and to avoid destructive behaviors.
Hon. Akwaboa pledged his commitment to elevating the health center to the status of a fully-fledged hospital, with the aim of expanding access to quality healthcare services for residents of Abesim and surrounding areas.
He reaffirmed the government’s dedication, under the leadership of President Mahama, to enhancing the nation’s healthcare infrastructure. Among the efforts highlighted were the ongoing equipping of the Sunyani Teaching Hospital and plans to establish a top-tier medical school at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), providing new opportunities for aspiring medical professionals from the region.

The Minister concluded by commending Mr. Konadu for his philanthropic spirit and encouraged the community to maintain the facility with care. He emphasized the importance of collective effort and generosity in advancing community development and improving lives.
