BONO REGIONAL MINISTER MEETS WITH SECURITY OFFICIALS AND TEAM FROM COSMUG IN SUNYANI

On Wednesday, March 19, 2025, the Bono Regional Minister, Honourable Joseph Addae Akwaboa, convened a strategic meeting in Sunyani with top security officials and a team from Operation Stop Cocoa Smuggling (COSMUG), led by General I.B. Quartey.

The objective was to develop a robust plan to curb the illicit smuggling of cocoa beans to neighboring countries—a pressing issue causing significant revenue losses for Ghana.

The discussions focused on increasing cocoa production in key cocoa-producing areas within the Bono Region and implementing measures to prevent smugglers from transporting cocoa across the country’s borders.

There is optimism that these collaborative efforts and strategic planning will not only deter cocoa smuggling but also enhance and secure Ghana’s cocoa revenue.
