BONO REGIONAL MINISTER JOINS MUSLIMS TO CELEBRATE EID-UL-FITR, PROMOTES PEACE AND UNITY
On 20th March 2026, the Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, joined the Islamic community in the Bono Region to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The event brought together a number of dignitaries, including the Regional Chairman of the NDC, the Member of Parliament and Municipal Chief Executive for the Sunyani East Constituency, party executives, and other community leaders.
During the celebration, the Minister conveyed Eid greetings on behalf of the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting Islamic values and supporting the development of the Muslim community.

The gathering also provided an opportunity for interaction and the strengthening of relationships with chiefs and leaders within the Islamic fraternity.
Hon. Akwaboa commended the longstanding peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians in the region, emphasizing the need to sustain and deepen this harmony as a foundation for development.
The Minister further reiterated the government’s dedication to expanding Islamic schools and institutions, highlighting efforts to enhance educational opportunities and promote interfaith harmony.
In his remarks, the Bono Regional Chief Imam, Imam Baaba Seidu Haidara, encouraged Muslims to uphold the true teachings and values of Islam. He noted that those who faithfully observed the Ramadan fast would receive abundant blessings and urged continuous prayers to preserve the peace of the nation.

As part of the celebration, the Minister led a government delegation to present donations, including bags of rice, sugar, boxes of Milo, non-alcoholic drinks, and a cash contribution of GHC20,000 to support the festivities.
The Eid-ul-Fitr celebration served as a reminder of the importance of unity, peace, and collective progress within the region.
