BONO REGION INAUGURATES NEW GHANA AIDS COMMISSION COMMITTEE IN SUNYANI
The Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, chaired the Inauguration and Swearing-in Ceremony of the Bono Regional Committee of the Ghana AIDS Commission (RECCOM) alongside a Stakeholders’ Coordination Forum on 18th November 2025 at the Bono Regional Coordinating Council.
The event, held under the auspices of the Office of the President’s Technical Support Unit for the Bono Region, aimed to empower newly appointed members to fully embrace their mandates and to ensure that regional efforts are strategically aligned to achieve collective targets.
During the ceremony, the minister encouraged the newly sworn-in members to approach their responsibilities with dedication and a strong sense of commitment.
He emphasized the importance of leveraging their expertise and fostering effective collaboration in addressing the challenges posed by HIV/AIDS.
Hon. Akwaboa said the Bono Region continued to record a consistently high HIV prevalence rate of 2.22 per cent, the highest in the country, which remained a serious public health concern.
He expressed the hope that the RECCOM would help enhance the region’s capacity to deliver a robust, well-coordinated, and evidence-based HIV response.
Stakeholders were also urged to work together to make a meaningful and lasting impact in the Bono Region and beyond.
Justice Winnie Amoatey-Owusu, a High Court Judge at Sunyani, later led the committee members to swear on the oath of office, and secrecy.
