BONO AND CHIEFTAINCY MINISTERS JOIN STAKEHOLDERS IN HISTORIC SUNYANI TRADITIONAL COUNCIL PEACE MEDIATION
Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, the Bono Regional Minister, joined the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, the Bono Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), H. E. Kwadwo Nyamekye Marfo, and other senior party executives at a pivotal peace mediation facilitated by the Sunyani Traditional Council on 3rd February 2026.
The mediation aimed at reconciling the interests of the Queen Mother of Sunyani, Nana Akosua Dua Asor Sika Brayie II, and the Paramount Chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area, Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II. The successful resolution of the long-standing chieftaincy dispute marked a significant milestone in efforts to restore stability and promote progress within the traditional area.
Following the resolution, confidence was expressed by the Regional Minister in Sunyani’s renewed potential for accelerated development. Appreciation was conveyed by the Regional Minister to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, for his sustained commitment and strategic interventions toward resolving chieftaincy disputes nationwide.
The Hon. Regional Minister also extended commendation to the sector minister, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, for his timely and decisive role in facilitating the peace process, as well as to both factions for their wisdom and willingness to allow peace to prevail.
