FARMERS ADOPTING IMPROVED LIVESTOCK TECHNOLOGIES – REGIONAL AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT REPORTS

The technologies adopted by farmers during the year 2024 included improved housing for livestock, improved nutrition for livestock (including supplementary feeding during the dry season and use of mineral salt licks), adherence to scheduled vaccination exercises, farm sanitation and hygiene, biosecurity measures in poultry, deworming, and breed improvement practices.
Farmers were also introduced to non-traditional agriculture such as grasscutter, snail, and guinea fowl farming.
Snail rearing as a non-traditional agriculture is gaining ground in the Dormaa West district with the construction of 32 snail pens, stocked with about 3,200 snails at Diabaa.
