The total cashew seedlings raised and distributed this year were from the District Assemblies and other supporting institutions such as GASIP, Mennonite Economic Development Associate (MEDA), and the Ghana Productivity Safety Net Programme (GPSNP). About 61% of the total cashew seedlings distributed were from supporting institutions.

The distribution of seedlings under the PERD programme ended in September. This year saw a 4% increase in the number of seedlings distributed under the PERD programme compared with last year. It was observed that, apart from cashew and oil palm seedlings that were raised in the Districts, mango, and coconut were purchased from private nursery operators.

The difference in the number of cashew seedlings distributed as against the raised seedlings was because some of the seedlings raised in Wenchi by MEDA were sent to Bono East for distribution to farmers.

The Tree Crop Development Authority (TCDA) also supported the PERD programme with about 50,600 coconut seedlings and 50,057 mango seedlings during the reporting period. All 12 districts benefitted from the seedlings supplied and distribution to farmers has been completed.
