BONO REGIONAL MINISTER OPENS EXERCISE THUNDERBOLT 2026 AT YAWHIMA WITH CEREMONIAL SHOT

The Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, on 28th September 2026, took the opening and ceremonial shot to officially commence the Ghana Armed Forces’ military shooting competition, dubbed Exercise Thunderbolt 2026, at the Yawhima Military Shooting Range in the Bono Region.

The exercise is being held under the theme, “Building a Combat-Ready Ghana Army through Professionalism, Teamwork and Marksmanship.”

The event underscores the importance of preparedness, teamwork, professional competence and marksmanship in strengthening the operational readiness and effectiveness of the Ghana Armed Forces.

The Bono Regional Minister noted the significance of the Bono Region hosting an activity of national importance and reaffirmed the region’s role as a host to major national programmes and institutional activities.

Exercise Thunderbolt 2026 brings together personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces for a competitive exercise aimed at enhancing shooting proficiency, teamwork and professional standards.
