REGIONAL AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT ORGANIZE FIELD DEMONSTRATIONS FOR FARMERS
The field demonstrations and trials were used to introduce new technologies and improved practices to farmers. Planting, transplanting, fertilizer application, mulching, pest and disease recognition, and control were performed on crops such as maize, rice, tomatoes, onions, peppers, and cabbage.
The demonstrations include trials aimed at promoting technologies that conserve soil nutrients and water (e.g., mulching), as well as smart agricultural practices such as the use of crop varieties that are tolerant to drought and diseases, in response to climate change and its increasingly negative impact on crop production.
Other technologies include vegetable nursery management techniques, staking in tomatoes, demonstrations of fertilizer usage (the effects of liquid and granular fertilizers on vegetables and rice), and post-harvest techniques.
