SECO, KfW, JOIN REGIONAL MINISTER AND LOCAL GOV’T MINISTER FOR DACF-RFG ASSESSMENT IN BONO

On 26th February 2026, the Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, hosted the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, together with delegation from the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) of Switzerland and Kreditanstalt fur Wiederaufbau (KfW) Development Bank.

The visit formed part of a field inspection mission under the District Assemblies Common Fund–Responsive Factor Grant (DACF-RFG) Programme.

The inspection aimed to assess the progress and impact of the DACF-RFG Programme, which has become a significant driver of improved performance, accountability, transparency, and results-oriented management across Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies nationwide.

The inspection focused on assessing the progress and impact of key projects in Fiapre, notably the Fiapre Market Project and the T.I. Ahmedyya Islamic School. The team conducted a thorough evaluation of the facilities to ensure that the objectives of the DACF-RFG Programme i.e. strengthening decentralization and enhancing local governance, are being effectively realized at the local level.

The programme continues to play a critical role in strengthening local governance structures and enhancing service delivery at the grassroots level.

During the engagement, the Hon. Bono Regional Minister underscored the importance of sustained collaboration between the Government of Ghana and its development partners. The partnership with SECO and KfW has been instrumental in advancing decentralization efforts and reinforcing effective local governance systems.

The Bono Regional Minister expressed appreciation to the Government of Ghana and its international partners for their continued commitment to building a more responsive, transparent, and accountable local government framework for the benefit of citizens.

The mission concluded with a courtesy call at the Sunyani Palace, where the delegation paid respects to Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Borkor II, Paramount Chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area. Discussions at the Palace centered on pertinent local governance issues and the importance of sustained collaboration between traditional authorities and government institutions to drive development.
