REGIONAL MINISTER LEADS GHANA AIRPORTS COMPANY BOARD TO INSPECT SUNYANI AIRPORT AHEAD OF EXPANSION PROJECT

On 9 January 2026, the Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboa, led the Board of Directors of the Ghana Airports Company Limited on an inspection visit to the Sunyani Airport in preparation for the planned airport expansion project, which is yet to commence.

The initiative represents a significant milestone in Ghana’s aviation sector and stands as the first major development project of the year 2026 for the Bono Region.

The Regional Minister expressed appreciation to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, for honoring his commitment to prioritize infrastructure development in the Bono Region.

He acknowledged the President’s leadership and vision, noting that the project reflects a broader commitment to balanced regional development.

According to Hon. Akwaboa, the expansion of the Sunyani Airport is expected to be transformative, with the potential to stimulate economic growth, improve regional and national connectivity, and enhance the overall travel experience.

He emphasized optimism about the opportunities the project will create and expressed confidence in its timely completion, while also commending the relevant sector ministers and stakeholders for their roles in advancing the initiative.
